The Owner Says

A glamping environment where visitors can truly take a break, La Parenthèse – Camping Les Ormes is a stunning campsite, finished to perfection that redefines comfort with its laid-back ambience, efficient facilities and general panache.
These spacious and beautifully decorated safari tents with their wooden beams and sand coloured canvas, are ideally suited for families or groups of up to 5 people.
Set within the mature trees of the campsite, with views over wild meadows, you can live the outdoor life without compromising on home comforts.
A spacious and airy living area with ample seating and dining space, opens out onto a large terrace - the perfect space for al fresco dining, or kicking back and relaxing.
There are two bedrooms, the first one with a double bed, the second bedroom with a bunk bed and an additional single bed.
The kitchen area is kitted out with a gas hob, fridge, utensils and kitchenware and a kettle. Water points are never far away, as are the two shower blocks, with baby areas, washing machines and dryers. There is also free wifi within the communal areas.
There are many things on offer at La Parenthèse Les Ormes, from pools, lakes and kiddy activities, to romantic restaurants and relaxing terraces, enough to keep young and old entertained and happy during your holiday.
Ideally situated next to the pool, The Food Truck, open daily from 11h00 until 18h00, serves up frothy cappuccinos to ice cool drinks, together with a selection of snack food including the local Hamburger Périgordin.
La Paillote, open daily from 18h00 to 21h00, is headed up by italian chef Toni, offering both eat-in or take away, options include pizzas to roast chicken or gourmet salads using local produce such as figs and goats cheese. There is a wonderful terrace here, which is a good place to sample some of the local wine whilst watching the sun go down.
Le Restaurant, a stunningly white washed space with fresh flowers, provides the perfect setting for a romantic dinner à deux  (advanced booking required), and don't worry about the children as you can book them into the Child Restaurant, with a host of entertainers to keep them happy, where they will be watered and fed, so they cam enjoy eating with new friends, whilst you enjoy a romantic meal for two. The perfect solution to keep everyone happy!
The on site facilities are vast at Les Ormes, with a black granite swimming pool, open daily from 10h00 until 19h00. A separate kiddie pool, a sandy beach on the banks of the lake, a pontoon from which you can fish or just gaze up at the starry sky. The children will be kept happy with the outdoor play area complete with swings and climbing frames, pétanque, ping pong, volley ball and football pitches or you can hire some tennis rackets to have a match or two on court.
It's well worth exploring the surrounding area, as this part of France is steeped in history and culture. The medieval villages or bastides of Villeréal or Monflanquin are just over 5 minutes away from the campsite, and offer wonderful local markets on Wednesday and Saturday mornings in Villeréal, as well as the nocturnal market on Monday evening from 18h00 during August with live music and donkey rides. The medieval festival in Monflanquin is well worth a visit during August, with street processions, jousting, horse parades to name but a few things on show.
Monpazier is rich in medieval architecture, conveniently located between Sarlat and Bergerac, whilst the Chateau de Gavaudin 40m high on a rocky cliff, has themed days during the summer months, to bring to life the medieval experience for young and old to enjoy!
The largest town is Bergerac, sitting on the banks of The Dordogne, just over half an hour away, rich in local produce from foie gras, to duck magret, prunes and Marmande tomatoes. For those after a wine tour, Monbazillac and its majestic Château, is a great place to explore, where you can enjoy a tasting of their famous sweet wine.
For more sporty types there is the Golfe de Barthe about half an hour away, and an "accrobranche" activity centre - where you can do trails in the tree tops, just 15 minutes from the campsite.
After all that exploring, you will no doubt savour your moment de détente (relaxation) back on site with a glass of something tasty, either pool side or in the comfort of your very own deck chair. Let the laid-back atmosphere seep in, simply unwind and relax, you are on holiday after all...

Suitable For

Nearby

The nearest town of any real interest is beautiful Bergerac, which takes its name from the celebrated wordsmith with the oversized proboscis. You can see a statue of him in the old town; that is if you’re not too busy stocking up on wine in one of a clutch of excellent wine-sellers. Red is the colour to go for here. The region is famous for its vino and there are great deals to be had. The old town undulates through a series of sun-dappled courtyards to the river and it makes for a lovely morning visit, wandering through the narrow alleys and getting lost. Closer to home there are a number of fortified medieval villages (bastides) including Villeréal, Monflanquin, and Monpazier, all with arcaded squares and vibrantly French with weekend markets selling everything from foie gras to local produce. Keep an eye out, too, for vide greniers (translates as ‘empty the attic’), France’s version of a car boot sale. You never know, you might just pick up something interesting. Come August, the towns recall their medieval past with the costumed festivals of the Vallée du Dropt. If you fancy a wine dégustation in a beautiful historic setting, head to Château de Monbazillac (0033 5 53 63 65 00) to try their sweet white wine. There’s also an 18-hole golf course right next to the campsite.

Food & Drink

We are surrounded by great places, great restaurant managed by awesome people:

Etincelles (00 33 5 53 74 08 79) in nearby Ste-Sabine-Born village has a Michelin star and is celebrated for its authentic French cooking. Nord/sud or L'Hotel de l'Europe & Maggies Café in Villeréal. La Bassivière restaurant an authentic restaurant in an old bar. Le Prince Noir or L'effet Maison in Monflanquin. To be honest, though, La Parenthèse restaurant has a terrific menu and we have not talked about the food truck by the pool and the Paillotte next to the lake yet, so will you be going out for dinner?!
