Off-grid glamping in luxurious geodesic domes, with views across rolling Welsh hills

Take it from us — if you want to camp without pitching your own tent, but you also want to feel as enveloped in nature as possible, then geodesic domes are one of your best options. Redwood Retreat has two of them — Hafod and Norwegian Wood — situated on their own private decking on a beautiful Welsh hillside, overlooking the quiet valley you'll call home for the duration of your stay. That valley will be your morning view, too, as you open the curtains to reveal the panoramic windows at the front of your dome, looking out across the expansive greenery that surrounds this Mid Wales getaway.

Redwood Retreat is an ideal spot to unwind from the hustle and bustle. Whether you are taking a dip in the wood-fired hot tub, admiring the stars from Norwegian Wood's skylight or the sunset from Hafod's bay window, it's easy to conclude that hosts Katherine and Andy have crafted a perfect spot for recharging their guests' batteries. And when we say crafted, we mean it — the couple has a fondness for reusing what they have and creating a self-sufficient home, even stretching to Andy building the wind turbine that helps power the site. This passion for combining off-grid living with comfort is exemplified by their glamping offering, which boasts enough amenities to make you forget the place is powered by solar and wind energy.

An adults-only site with domes that sleep just two guests, the set up here is perfect for couples. An exclusive bathroom gives you all your amenities, while the outdoor shower presents a perfect secluded spot to bathe with a view over the valley. There's outdoor seating from which to admire the scenic landscape with a glass of bubbly, while the interior of each dome is outfitted with stylish hardwood flooring complemented by soft rugs and comfortable sofas from which to watch the wild world go by. There's not much need to leave your dome during your stay, but if you pull yourself away from this idyllic spot, it's only a mile into the town and most local pubs and restaurants can be accessed in the same distance. Then after a few drinks, it's back to the dome, where you can dim the lights, put some logs in the wood-burning stove, and relax in your large luxury king-size bed. As Katherine and Andy say, it's easy being green at Redwood.

Facilities

For a perfect getaway in our exclusive unabashed luxury geodesic domes.

The spacious all season domes are located on individual decking platforms giving seclusion and panoramic views across a quiet valley but less than 1 mile from town.

The spacious domes are over six metres in diameter, each with a panoramic window set to catch the evening sunset.

In the roof of Norwegian Wood is a large skylight so you can view the night sky whilst lying in the large luxury king size bed.

For snuggling up in the evening there is a sofa just for two and a wood-burning stove can take the chill off the evenings if needed.

Inside the dome is the kitchenette with sink, hot and cold water, gas cooker, oven and a fridge.

Both domes have hard flooring softened with colourful rugs.  The dimmable low level lighting can set the mood for a romantic night in.

Just a few steps away is your exclusive bathroom.  A large shower, flush toilet and wash basin cover the basics and again we provide fluffy towels and towelling robes to reduce your luggage load.

Overlooking the valley you’ll find an outdoor shower so you can greet the sunrise with a hot shower. Hot water coming from the solar panels of course.

We provide a charcoal barbeque if you fancy cooking al fresco. Below the main decking area you have the exclusive use of a wood fired hot tub.

Suitable For

The site is for adults only and regret we do not allow pets. We have two seperate, secluded domes that can be booked together if you wish.
