Erw Deg Glamping

UK Wales North Wales Anglesey Beaumaris

Spacious glamping in Anglesey with stunning views over Snowdonia and nearby beaches.

If you live in a city, chances are that you have considered packing up your bags and getting away from it all at least once or twice (maybe per week). Erw Deg Glamping owners Dave and Bethan did just that, swapping out London's towering skyline for North Wales' Llandegfan, before swiftly setting up a campsite that would allow others to retreat to the countryside and do the same. Erw Deg Glamping is borne out of the couple's desire to reimmerse themselves in nature, and with the lush greenery of its 10-acre site overlooking the breathtaking Snowdonia mountain range, they've achieved just that.

Erw Deg Glamping features four five-metre bell tents situated in a wildflower pasture, with 10 acres of meadows and woodland surrounding the site. Dave and Bethan's goal was to create a site that would allow guests the opportunity to experience their natural surroundings while leaving its wildlife undisturbed, meaning that peace and quiet are encouraged with the site best-suited to families and couples as a result.

The bell tents each provide a double bed, with additional deluxe camping mats and beds provided for up to two children, and travels cots and baby seats also available upon request. A hot shower and cooking facilities are found in a covered area, while a compost loo helps keep things eco-friendly. Food can be cooked on the barbecue and fire pit which are just outside each tent, with seating and all the cooking utensils you should need included too. While you can enjoy the views from the comfort of your tent, the site's acres are yours to freely explore, so feel free to take a paddle in the nearby stream or a walk through its vast meadows.

But it's not just the site's scenic acres and sprawling Snowdonia that are within your grasp. Erw Deg is also favourably situated next to Beaumaris, the Anglesey seaside town known for its eclectic combination of medieval, Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian architecture. Alongside its castle of the same name, famed for its near-perfect symmetry as one of the most well-constructed medieval fortresses in the UK, Beaumaris' beach is also a delight, backed by colourful pastel-painted homes. The Blue Flag-designated Llanddona beach is also a short drive away, as is the tidal Llanddwyn Island and its enviable view of the Llŷn Peninsula. All of this gorgeous scenery makes Erw Deg Glamping an energising break away from grey buildings and overcrowded streets for those in need of recharging their batteries.

Each high-quality canvas bell tent is thoughtfully decorated to fit in with the wildflower meadows outside. The comfortable double bed has a thick duvet to ensure a cosy night’s sleep. Deluxe camping mats and bedding can be provided for up to 2 children and a travel cot and baby seats can be requested as well. The 5-metre boutique bell tent has an extra-height entrance and central pole to create a spacious, airy interior with carpeting underfoot. Each tent has its own seating area and BBQ / fire pit, but you are more than welcome to take your evening beverage and camping chair anywhere on the 10 acre site. All you need for alfresco meals is provided: saucepans, frying pan, plates, bowls, cups and cutlery as well as basic utensils. There is a covered area with a warm shower, cooking facilities, gas stoves and cool storage. The new compost loo is welcoming and pleasant to use.

Suitable For

We want to maintain the tranquility of the site, so it is best suited to families and couples. We ask for quiet hours with no music or loud talking between 10pm and 8am. No dogs are permitted as we are surrounded by farmland. Small extra tents for family members may be permitted on request, at an extra charge.

Erw Deg is in a beautiful spot looking over Eryri / Snowdonia, near Llandegfan. From here you can easily reach the bustling town of Beaumaris (5 mins by car) where you’ll find a castle, playground, pier, boat trips, delis, a fishmonger, local craft and lifestyle shops. We’re also close to sandy beaches such as Blue Flag designated Llanddona (10 mins by car), Benllech Beach and vast Newborough Beach with its forest cycle paths and magical Llanddwyn Island is just 20 minutes away. The popular coastal path that loops around the island's rugged coast is also nearby. Menai Bridge, which has a number of lovely restaurants and a Waitrose, is only five minutes away too. The rest of the island and the bridges providing access to the rest of North Wales are easily reached from Erw Deg. We would be happy to recommend special days out and places to eat. There are so many activities to do nearby, including horse riding, cycling (we are on a designated cycle route), kayaking, climbing, mountain walking, surfing, and plenty more. One of your hosts, Bethan, is a yoga teacher and can offer outdoor yoga sessions for families or adults, if guests enquire.

The Owner Says

Relax and enjoy camping surrounded by beautiful fields and wildlife overlooking the stunning Snowdonia mountain range. Four spacious 5-metre bell tents are spread out in a tranquil wildflower pasture with breathtaking views. Explore ten acres of meadows and woodland; build a den, paddle in the stream or watch the sunset. Our site is secluded but well situated for reaching the amazing beaches and varied attractions of Anglesey. We welcome families and couples looking for an authentic camping experience immersed in nature. We are Dave, Bethan and our two small children. Both originally from Anglesey, we moved back to Llandegfan from London a year ago in pursuit of wider skies, cleaner air and closeness to family. We are working hard to allow wildlife to flourish here at Erw Deg. We have seen red squirrels, foxes, woodpeckers, buzzards, red kites, goldfinches, songbirds and lots of rabbits. We want to share this gorgeous place with you in a low-impact, high-enjoyment way.
