Nestled in sleepy Pembrokeshire, yet still conveniently close to the regions finest sights, Dews Lake Farm is the perfect choice for campers wanting to enjoy the wonders of Western Wales

First time campers? The family not bowled over by the idea of a weekend camping in rural Wales? Then Dews Lake Farm might be the ideal choice for your first under-canvas foray. The site provides pitches for ‘traditional campers’ and ‘glampers’ alike on a friendly, authentic working farm teeming with wildlife and countryside character. Tucked away in sleepy Pembrokeshire, yet still conveniently close to the regions finest sights (including Manorbier Castle & Freshwater East Beach), Dews Lake Farm is the perfect choice for campers wanting to enjoy the wonders of Western Wales and its remarkably unspoilt landscapes.

Upon arrival you realise everything here is relaxed and pretty low-key. There’s no designated pitches, just rock up and find your corner of tranquillity. You’ll find decent facilities here too with pipping hot showers, 16-amp electric hook-up points (for caravans) and handy phone charging stations.

Dews Lake’s patch of flat green farmland sits only six miles from the loveable bucket-and-spade town of Tenby. Many literary greats such as Roald Dahl, Jane Austen and Beatrix Potter have taken inspiration from its elegant white Georgian mansions, glorious hilltop views and traditional fishing village feel. Today, Tenby is a postcard-maker's dream and delights visitors who stroll leisurely through its medieval streets lined with cosy pubs, quirky gift shops and tempting ice-cream parlours.

As luck would have it, Dews Lake is also on the doorstep of one of Europe’s finest beaches, Barafundle Bay. Reached after an invigorating half-hour cliff-top trek, the immaculate, golden sands and turquoise blue waters give it a paradisiac feeling, often drawing comparisons to the Caribbean. Out of season you often have the place to yourself, apart from a few brave surfers who tackle the choppy Irish Sea. From Barafundle, take a delightful little stroll to Bosherston lily ponds. The best time to visit is in late spring or summer when the lilies are in flower and become home to an eclectic array of wildlife, including otters, swans, herons, dragonflies and 'robbing' robins who won't hesitate to pinch food right out of your hands.
