The campsite is a long established spot, with only the three safari tents a recent introduction. It has excellent facilities, including a well-equipped shower and toilet block, a parent and baby room and a children's play area, while the well-appointed tents are an easy way to turn up without all your camping kit and caboodle. Each comes with two bedrooms furnished with proper beds (there's room for four adults or a family of six in total); a kitchenette equipped with everything you need – hob, fridge, microwave, crockery and cutlery – and a living area that extends to a verandah for that all-important early evening sundowner.
Less time tent-pitching and more time exploring is certainly part of the draw. From West Runton's very own sandy beach to the steam train that regularly chugs the short twenty-minute journey from nearby Sheringham to well-heeled Holt a little way inland, you couldn't be better placed for exploring the eastern end of the North Norfolk Coast. Plus you're well placed for the coast beyond Cromer – Overstrand has a particularly nice beach – and even the fabled Norfolk Broads are less than a half an hour drive to the south.
