Grown-up glamping between the Lakes and The Dales in super-luxurious pods – each with a private hot tub

If you thought a camping holiday meant roughing it for a few days in exchange for a view or picturesque location, think again. We’re all aware that glamping has put the glam in to camping but, perhaps, nowhere is this more accurate than at Hedgerow Luxury Glamping in North West England. As the name suggests, this glamping-only site in Lancashire’s Ribble Valley has ramped up the outdoors experience so that you don’t need to go without. In fact, you’ll find more creature comforts than at home, and more luxury than many hotels, with the added bonus of a rural location on a working farm and stunning countryside views.

Each of the three en-suite pods on site looks out across the Ribble Valley, with a pond and flower-filled meadow in the foreground. It’s appropriate, then, that each pod is named after a wildflower: Daisy, Buttercup and Dandelion. A private patio with bistro-style furniture, a hot tub and a fire pit to help make the most of those far-reaching vistas. Choose the super-luxurious Daisy and you’ll also get a covered deck which means you can enjoy outdoor living whatever the weather. Although, we hasten to add, the floor-to-ceiling windows on each pod mean those views are also available from the king-sized bed. There’s even a solar powered stargazing window in the roof of each pod – with the press of a button you can open the blind drink it in... along with a freshly-made coffee from the machine in the pod’s well-equipped kitchen.

In addition, the fully equipped kitchen features a dishwasher, microwave, slow cooker and halogen hob. What more could you want? Some ideas of what to cook, perhaps? Hedgerow Luxury Glamping won’t disappoint there either. Hilary and Mark, who run the place, offer handy breakfast, barbecue and fire-starter packages which mean the fridge, cupboards and log store can be stocked for your arrival. Push the boat out and opt for the Luxury Package – meals at both ends of the day will be covered and you’ll have wine and handmade chocolates thrown in too.

These luxury pods are adults-only and pet-free; a place for couples to kick back and relax. Forget going back-to-basics. In addition to the kitchen mod-cons, these pods have WiFi, a Bluetooth speaker system, a Smart TV and underfloor heating. As Hilary puts it: “This is modern living in the heart of the country”. No-one could blame you if you simply soaked in the hot tub, dined under the stars, or curled up with a good book – but if you can drag yourself away there’s plenty of grown-up sightseeing in the area. Meander around the market towns of Settle, Skipton or Clitheroe or take a scenic drive in to one of the two eminently-reachable national parks. The Yorkshire Dales are practically on the doorstep and the Lake District is just an hour’s drive away.

Each of the three luxury glamping pods is self-contained with a king-sized bed, en suite bathroom, fully-equipped kitchen and a private hot tub. Each has an electricity and water supply along with many luxurious and modern touches including underfloor heating, an electric log burner, Hollywood vanity mirror, USB ports, WiFi, a Bluetooth speaker system, TV, dishwasher, microwave, halogen hob, slow cooker, wine cooler and a coffee machine. Beds are made up with bed linen for guest’s arrival and towels and robes are also provided along with complimentary toiletries. A stargazing window has been fitted to the roof of each pod. Outside each pod is a parking space, patio area with BBQ stand, a table and chairs, private deck and hot tub and a fire pit. A fire-starter pack is available to buy as an add-on at £7 including matches, kindling, logs and firelighters. For a little more you can add marshmallows, skewers, chocolate and biscuits. Daisy pod has an extended covered area outside the pod with a glass roof over a well-lit corner sofa and coffee table.

Suitable For

Glamping only. Adults only (over 18 years of age). Dogs are not permitted.

There’s a little pond in front of the pods, where you can watch wildlife, and the site is in the middle of the working farm so guests are likely to see cows grazing in neighbouring fields. The market towns of Skipton, Clitheroe and Settle are all about a 20-minute drive from Hedgerow Luxury Glamping. All have independent shops and plenty of places to eat and drink. Medieval Skipton Castle (01756 792442) is well worth a visit and the surrounding woods are a nice place to walk. There are also boat trips on the Leeds-Liverpool Canal with Skipton Boat Trips (01756 790829). In Clitheroe, there’s another castle (01200 424568) and in Settle you can jump aboard the Settle-Carlisle Railway (01729 825888) for a scenic journey through the Ribble Valley and Yorkshire Dales. Hedgerow Glamping is on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park and not far from The Forest of Bowland with almost endless opportunities for walking and cycling. The Lake District and Leeds are both about an hour’s drive from site.

The Owner Says

Hedgerow Luxury Glamping has been designed to offer the ultimate escape to nature without sacrificing life’s little luxuries. Each luxury glamping pod is larger than average, with a king size bed, fully equipped kitchen, breakfast bar and bathroom with shower. There’s WiFi throughout, free-sat television, a Hollywood-style vanity mirror, there’s even a dishwasher and wine chiller! Outside the pod, on your own private patio, there’s a hot tub, disposable built-in BBQ and a fire pit for those romantic nights. Your garden bed with integrated shade is perfect for sunny days when you want to soak up the sun. Or, in autumn, when the air is crisp, relax and just watch the world go by with a glass of fizz. Enjoy sitting at the bistro table on your cushioned rattan armchairs, playing a game of cards or reading a good book. Fire up the BBQ and relish in the quality food included in The BBQ Package. Need a late-night treat? How about melting some marshmallows and making s’mores on the fire pit?

We’ve created your own little hideaway around the pod, with fencing for privacy that blends into the countryside, potted plants, reclaimed stone walls and a parking spot next to your pod.

You'll be immersed in nature as soon as you step onto Hedgerow. From our wildlife pond to the rolling hills around your pod. You can set off on a hike, a relaxing walk or get on your bike and experience some of the best views of the Yorkshire Dales and Ribble Valley. If you want to get outside then pull on your walking boots and challenge yourself with one (or all) of Yorkshire's three peaks, Aysgarth Falls or Pendle Hill. There’s plenty of walking, hiking and cycling routes around the site. You can enjoy a nice gentle stroll to a country pub, The White Bull in Gisburn is less than an hour away on foot or the Buck Inn at Paythorne just a mile walk up the road. Drive 25 minutes and tackle the climb up Malham Cove before a pub lunch at The Lister Arms or The Buck Inn.

Have something more relaxing in mind? Skipton has several cafes and restaurants, bars and traditional pubs. Or you could head to one of several spas in the nearby area, which allow day visitors.
