Secluded, private, pop up glampsite on a farm. Ideally situated to explore the Jurassic Coast.

Milton Meadow is the fruits of a labour of love between an architect and designer. Caroline and Scott, the site's owners, have a passion for sustainability and during the lockdown they set about creating a haven on their land. Nestled in the quintessentially quaint Dorset village of Milton Abbas lies a secluded, private ‘Kit’ tipi. The small village is famed for Milton Abby’s stunning grounds, designed by Capability Brown. Caroline and Scott are also very capable of making sure that you’ll have a comfortable and special stay in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where you can take the time to recharge and soak in the rolling hills and pristine, white thatched cottages.

In this simple yet private site, you have your own gas-powered shower and toilet inside a lovingly designed and undercover sweet yellow wagon, situated right next to your tipi. For cooking, Caroline and Scott have made sure that as glampers you have the choice between heating your beans on the gas stove, grilling your lamb skewers on the BBQ, or toasting marshmallows on the firepit. You may then round off the night by popping the kettle on for a hot choccie while you chill out in the dining area provided. All bedding and towels are provided for the double bed and two singles. With the tipi snuggly situated in a woodland clearing on the farm, the night owls will keep you company while you stargaze through the trees — or perhaps you’re up for playing a round of gin rummy, using the deck of cards provided.

With Caroline and Scott making sure the important things are taken care of, you’re free to have your own little haven of private paradise. You are also ideally situated to explore the spectacular Jurassic Coast, which is a hiker's dream with the vast amount of walks on offer, such as the Jubilee trail which traverses right through the farm. With Dorset now a firm favourite among campers, Milton Meadow is still a secluded glampsite set away from the crowds.

Milton Abbas is famed for its Abbey, which is now an independent school, the grounds of which were designed by Capability Brown. A quite and secluded spot, the tipi is nestled within a woodland clearing and boasts views of rolling hills and grazing cows. In an area of outstanding natural beauty, there are many country walks on offer, of which the Jubilee trail traverses through the farm.

Cute, clever and so comfortable!
Thank you so much for the thought and style put into the wonderful spot. I loved the ethos and approach to sustainability, it had all the comforts and so cleverly designed, it's a great location in a beautiful part of the world. The only thing I would add is books and a hammock, as I could have stayed another day just relaxing and reading. I cooked great local food over a wood fire, swam in the sea and walked over hills. then slept like the dead, waking with fresh coffee in the morning.. you couldn't ask for more.

The hoss; Caroline and Scott were perfect. Very welcoming, accomodating, kind and generous. The tipi camp; it has every you need. Kitchen is well equipe. The surprising power shower was very welcome after long hikes. And the mattress is of good quality for good night sleep guarantee. Location; so well situated. The farm shop is just 5 min away with beautiful quality products. The very near little village of Milton Abbas is as cute as the Xmas postcard. And finally hikes are easily accessible in land (to escape the mass of tourists) or by the coast less than 30 minutes. I will definitely recommend the tipi to my friends.

Brilliant place if you are non campers like us. It’s got everything you would possibly need. Plenty of great walks nearby and the best one is to Milton Abbas as there is a great pub at the end. Close enough to the beach so you can enjoy a swim and then return for a hot shower! Very friendly and accommodating hosts!

From the host
Surrounded by flora & forna, the Kit tipi is situated on a working farm close to the charming thatched cottage village of Milton Abbas. Milton Abbas is famed for its Abbey, which is now an independent school, the grounds of which were designed by Capability Brown. A quiet and secluded spot, the tipi is nestled within a woodland clearing and boasts views of rolling hills and grazing cows. In an area of outstanding natural beauty. The Kit is named after Dorset dialect for friends & family; it sleeps upto 4 people and would suit a family, group of friends or as a romantic couples retreat. Stargazing is wonderful from the farm and owls can be heard from the coppice by night. A private campsite, you will have the shower & toilet block to yourselves along with outdoor cooking facilities. Please note that the far end of the site there is a cabin, please respect the comfort and privacy of the other guests.
Nearby attractions
Milton Meadow is situated next door to Luccombe Riding Centre (07734 388501) as well as a yoga studio. If either of these activities appeal, Caroline would be happy to provide more information on how you can get involved. To get to the village centre of Milton Abbas, it's a beautiful walk over rolling hills and all off-road, perfect for any youngsters or a post-pub walk when the adults might be a bit tipsy. In Milton Abbas, you'll receive a warm welcome at Steepton Bill Farmshop an outdoor cafe, where you can pick up local meat and groceries for your barbecue back at base. Hambro Arms (01258 880233) is a lovely traditional alehouse, which serves stellar pub grub using local produce, with vegan/gluten-free options also available. A 22-minute drive away from Monkey World (01929 462537), which is a must-visit and suitable for all ages, lets you see up close rehabilitated and rescued chimpanzees and orangutans across a 65-acre sanctuary. A 35-minute drive away, the majestic Lulworth Castle (01929 400352) is worth a visit, once used as a hunting lodge to entertain royalty, the woodland walks and tearoom are now open to the public; pitch up and have a picnic while taking in the glorious view. After your picnic, drive 10 minutes over to Lulworth Cove, one of Britain's worst-kept secrets because it is so breathtakingly beautiful, you could almost fool yourself into thinking you're in Santorini... almost. Caroline would like to personally recommend Bulbarrow Hill, her and Scott's favourite hiking spot, with spectacular views across the Blackmore Vale overlooking Dorset, Somerset, Wiltshire, and Devon.
