If this was the Location, Location, Location, then Kirstie Allsopp would hail Boswarthen as a triumph. It's difficult to think of a more stunning location – the campsite sits amongst 550 acres of land in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just outside of Penzance. It's a great spot that's within easy access of Cornwall's most popular tourist spots, yet it manages to retain the feeling of a forgotten land.

The beauty of Boswarthen is that you can make your trip as quiet or as sociable as you'd like it to be. If you're looking for a spot of relaxation, then the quietest pitches can be found in the bottom field. But if you'd prefer to have a sea view of St Michaels Mount with your morning brew, then request a spot in the top field.

All tents come with proper beds and enough creature comforts to delight even the biggest camping sceptic. The wood-burning stove may take a bit of getting used to, but with a little legwork, you'll have a homely and inviting dwelling to return to.

Owners Maddie and Adrian are courteous hosts and will pop round each morning to let guests know about happenings on the farm; from group nights to newborn calves. If you don't plump for the arrival night meal, then be sure to go to one of the communal evenings. Maddie's homemade pizza – lovingly prepared and crisped to perfection in the stone oven – is perfect for starlit nights around the campfire, and her vegetarian lasagne prompted a collective round of second helpings.

After a hard day's running around, making friends, having grass fights and playing in the sand pit, weary legs can be treated to a session in the hot tub. This might be camping by name, but the little touches of luxury fit together to make this an unforgettable experience that is so much more than just another camping holiday.

Nearby attractions
Boswarthen is ideally located for exploring some of Cornwall's finest attractions. Mousehole, St Ives and Lands End are all a short drive away. St Michael's Mount can get busy, but for good reason: there are a host of excellent walks here, and why many visitors flock to Boswarthen. Feet in need of a spot of paddling should head to one of the many sensational beaches nearby, including Porth Kernow and Sennen Cove. It's worth checking the listings for the Minack Theatre (01736 810181). And, of course, no trip would be complete without a trip to the Eden Project (01726 811900).
Food and drink

You can order a wide range of meals, hampers and services from Maddie and Adrian and stewpots are available for hire. Seafood lovers should head to Newlyn, home to one of the largest fishing fleets in the UK, for barbecued lobster in the harbour. For a traditional pub lunch, head to the Old Coastguard in Mousehole (01736 731222). Pick up a bottle of locally-produced wine from Polgoon cider orchard and vineyard (01736 333946).
