If you and your brood fancy an action-packed trip, head for Bosworth Water Trust campsite, on a 50-acre country park with 20 acres of water sports. Probably pretty uniquely for a campsite – particularly in this neck of the woods – it has kayaking, windsurfing, sailing and canoeing. And you don’t need to splash out on any fancy kit.
The campsite will hire out everything you need in the way of tackle and togs, and runs sailing, windsurfing and powerboating courses. If you are feeling less adventurous (or energetic), you will find rowing boats and pedalos, and you can fish from dawn to dusk. A small sandy ‘beach’ next to the lake’s roped-off swimming zone should keep younger bods happy building sandcastles, and in keeping with the seaside theme (if not strictly Hipcamp-style) the park has a pirate-ship playground, crazy golf, dodgems and bungee jumping. After all this, if you’re still in the market for more, the campsite has a volleyball net.
When you’re finally ready for a sit-down, the café has tables overlooking the lake, and as the campsite only takes families and couples the absence of groups means you get a well-earned good night’s sleep come shut-eye time.
