A unique combination of off-grid glamping and spa days in Devon

If you’re seeking a break within the unspoiled wilderness, camping amid untamed woodland accessible across a babbling brook, at the head of a valley on an organic poultry farm with delightful roaming chickens, then chances are you’re looking to properly relax. Wild Earth’s eco-conscious campsite provides the above, and knows that its visitors are looking to truly unwind; it’s a good thing, then, that your trip can also be complemented by a masseuse and aromatherapist, in this unique combination of off-grid glamping and luxurious spa day.

Wild Earth is located in the 40 acres of a spring-fed wooded valley that make up Bulstone Springs farm, run by certified organic farmers Laura and Jon looking to share their land and its diverse ecology with guests. The spring in question runs down to the quiet village of Branscombe and then into the sea, and so Wild Earth’s hosts are respectful of the land they own and what they put into it. But that doesn’t mean that your spacious, furnished bell tent — heated by a wood burner — isn’t without its amenities; a fire pit sits beneath a separate, raised “parachute” tent, surrounded by benches for an evening natter, a hot shower looks out onto the woodland for sheltered but scenic bathing, and the camp kitchen and compost loo round off everything you need.

With the essentials comprehensively covered, all that’s left to do is relax in your surroundings. And what a place to relax — on top of the site being ideally situated close to the Jurassic Coast with its myriad of beaches, clifftops, and stunning walks, on-site you’re offered the luxury of holistic massages from aromatherapy studio Wyldlore. Book them before you arrive and get those aches and pains smoothed out from the comfort of your heated bell tent, with bespoke offerings available along with the likes of balm and perfume-making workshops. For more energetic activities, axe-throwing is also available (please check with the Host for availability prior to booking), as is tracking and natural navigation that takes visitors on an adventure in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. And, if you’re hungry, a delicious batch of fresh local food can be pre-ordered before your arrival from In My Back Yard, the local producers' co-op that Bulstone Springs is proudly a part of. Laura and Jon want you to leave Wild Earth as relaxed as the site itself; with its flowing spring, valley setting, and on-site massages, they’re adeptly equipped to achieve this goal.

Accessed across a babbling brook and surrounded by trees, Wild Earth is sunny, secluded and entirely private. The 5m heated bell tent is on a platform and furnished for four guests: a double and two single futons, made up with fresh, clean linen, duvets, pillows and woven Welsh carthenni blankets. There's a spare futon for a fifth guest. The floor is natural coir matting, a wood burner and fairy lights provide warmth and ambient lighting. Towels are also provided, but please bring your own beach towels. There’s a fully kitted-out camp kitchen with washing-up area, a rocket stove, gas hob, skillet, dutch oven, fire pit and grill for outdoor cooking, and a large cool box with ice packs. A first basket of seasoned logs and kindling is provided, more are available to buy from the farm. Phones can be charged from a leisure battery provided.  WEEK STAYS OR LONGER Planning a longer trip? If you're booking 7 nights or more, get 15% discount with this code at check out: ACMXBNZI FOR LARGER GROUPS/FAMILIES The bell tent is furnished for 4 people. There's an extra futon for a fifth family member, please select additional guest at check out. There's also plenty of space for larger families or groups to bring extra tents, please use the additional guests option when you book.  OTHER FACILITIES Wild Earth has its own private compost toilet and shares access to a natural spring and a hot woodland shower with one other glamping pitch located in another area of the valley. To protect the environment and water course, organic castile soap/shampoo and washing up detergent are provided, so there's no need to bring your own. MASSAGE & COURSES We are delighted to arrange on-site massage and aromatherapy treatments in the heated bell tent for anyone in your group, with Ella Staff from wyldlore[dot]co[dot]uk. These are £50 for an hour's session, £35 per additional booking. Ella also offers a range of aromatherapy balm and perfume workshops and can plan these to suit your group's requirements. Please message us for more information about workshops.  BRING WELLIES, HEAD TORCHES & BEACH TOWELS! The site is on a natural spring line so there are some wet/muddy areas, even in dry weather. Please bring your wellies/boots. Also head torches for night time, and beach towels - we are situated on the Jurassic Coast with several great beaches nearby. There’s parking on-site however the glamping is towards the centre of the valley and is not accessible by vehicle. There are wheelbarrows to help you move your gear and we are also happy to help you. FARM & WILD LIFE Wild Earth is part of a working organic poultry farm. Large areas of our valley are also left to be wild. So we have plenty of wild creatures - owls, bats, foxes, buzzards, song birds, insects, slow worms and more... We love it wild, and hope you will too....whilst most are harmless, you will need to be aware of some of the flora and fauna. We’ll provide boxes to store your food away from wild creatures in the night. Please bring your citronella/mosquito ointments and anything else you think you might need for a back-to-nature stay.  FRESH LOCAL PRODUCE, CHARCOAL, ALES & MORE ON YOUR DOORSTEP Fresh local food (including our organic chicken and eggs), local sustainable charcoal and other essentials for your stay can be pre-ordered ahead of your arrival from the In My Back Yard food co-op. Please see imby[dot]coop for more information and place an order the week ahead of your arrival, selecting ‘collect from hub’ at check out and mention in the notes field you're our guests. The orders are packed in our barn on Fridays and we will deliver them to your camp kitchen. If you arrive over the weekend, we’ll keep your order cool for you. We always have fresh organic eggs available and we are happy for kids (and parents!) to come and collect eggs with us and say hello to the hens and alpacas. A basket of seasoned firewood is provided and additional firewood and kindling can be bought on site. You can forage for fallen wood but it might be too wet. LIMITED ACCESS We’re really sorry our farm isn’t easy for people with limited physical ability. The glamping area, compost loo and shower access are up steps/along uneven, flinty ground. Please keep this in mind when considering staying here and make sure you have friends/family members to help you. Please message us to find out more. CLEANING All facilities will be deep-cleaned between bookings and linen is boil washed. SURROUNDING AREA We are surrounded by breath-taking landscapes to nourish mind, body and soul and are in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). We are a mile from the beautiful pebble beaches at Weston and Branscombe. There are two great pubs in the village, a cafe at the beach, and we are near to the seaside towns of Sidmouth, Beer and Seaton, where you can often see dolphins swimming in Lyme Bay. The magical Lyme Regis (with sandy beaches) is 20 minutes away. Early August the famous Sidmouth Folk Festival and it's fringe events are just down the road, and there are plenty of things to do and see in East Devon throughout the summer. GETTING AROUND There are endless foot paths around the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, including the South West Coastal Path which is only a mile from here. A local and regional bus service stops 10 minutes walk away, with easy connections to nearby towns, Exeter, Lyme Regis and Weymouth. There are trains from Honiton Station only 15 minutes drive away, and we are close to the A3052, A30, A303, A35, M5 and other trunk roads easily connecting you to the rest of the Southwest.

Wild Earth Glamping
Beautiful Eco-Camping Site
Laura was such a kind and friendly host and made every effort to make our stay as wonderful as possible. The beauty of Wild Earth is massively understated - the valley is magical and the camping site is so special, you feel at home as soon as you're there. All the amenities are very clean and sustainable. The area of the farm is close to beaches and lovely little coastal towns, so there's no shortage of things to do!

Wild Earth Glamping
Just returned home from our lovely stay at wild earth. Beautiful site that is well thought out. We were able to pick up the south west coastal path, walking all the way to seaton on one day, and if you walk from the back of the farm there is a lovely walk down into branscombe. As we came by train there are bus services but be mindful of the walk to the bus stops. Alternatively taxi was happy to take our dog when our legs became too tired. Our host Laura and team were so friendly, always checking we had everything we needed, baking us fresh bread and supply of eggs. We even had a lovely warm shower. 😊 At night you can hear the owls and in the morning the dawn chorus. It was nice to feel closer to nature. It is worth noting that the nearest shop is in Beer or Sidmouth although Laura is happy to advise of local farm shops. And it can get cold at night so pack your pyjamas, although the cosy log burner and additional wool blankets do keep the edge off. We really enjoyed our stay, especially Ronnie our dog.

Wild Earth Glamping
This was a really beautiful space with very friendly and welcoming hosts. Little extra touches (gorgeous wool blankets, lanterns, eco toiletries) made it feel like a very special experience and it was the best equipped glamping kitchen we have been to

Wild Earth Glamping
Lovely site and hosts
Amazing find. We had a great stay here with our two children who absolutely loved it. You have the site all to yourself and is a lovely peaceful spot close to Branscombe and Sidmouth. The facilities are great with a really well equipped kitchen, multiple options for fires and cooking (with wood provided), comfy bedding, hammocks and even a hot shower in the woods. Lovely extras like fresh eggs and spring water. Laura and her family who live on the site up the hill were lovely and helpful. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the area

Nearby attractions

Wild Earth is exceptional for the range of on-site aromatherapy treatments it offers, along with workshops such as axe-throwing, tracking, and natural navigation. The site’s partnership with Wyld Lore (07758928727) means that guests can pre-book a therapy treatment that will be provided to them in their bell tent, with qualified aromatherapist Ella Staff. She also offers a range of aromatherapy balm and perfume-making workshops, and even the kids can join in on the latter for a day of creativity.

Outside of the site, Wild Earth is located in the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with Branscombe village part of the Jurassic Coastline. As such, there are plenty of scenic views to admire and plenty of beaches to explore. Weston Beach is only a mile away, with this secret spot only accessible by a walk and, with its steep steps and rocky terrain, visitors will feel a sense of accomplishment when they’re relaxing on its pebbled beach looking out to the ocean. Sidmouth Beach is a little over five miles away from the site and more of a tourist spot than Weston, with its sand and shingle beach backed by the seaside town of the same name, where visitors can also find a variety of unique shops and eateries. It’s an ideal spot for a day out — take a trip to the immaculately presented Connaught Gardens (01395 517528), or keep walking down the seafront until you reach the picturesque Chit Rocks. Venture a little further out to Seaton, a 15-minute drive from the site, and you’ll be able to look out across Lyme Bay from its coast, where dolphins are spotted during periods of warm weather. A little further still is the town of Lyme Regis is a 20-minute drive from the site, where visitors can admire its harbour and the world-famous wall protecting it, named The Cobb.

Food and drink
In My Back Yard (01297 680 680) is a co-op that Wild Earth visitors will be able to enjoy, given that Bulstone Springs is one of its partners. Order fresh produce during the week leading up to your arrival (note the Wednesday 10 pm cut off time), which will be delivered to your bell tent when you arrive. Elsewhere, The Fountain Head (01297 680 359) is a great local pub that can be reached in a 20-minute walk, with unfussy food and a log fire along with a selection of ales. The Masons Arms (01297680300) is a 10-minute drive, an award-winning 14th-century inn that proudly combines a classic and modern setting. The Kitchen is located next to the free-to-visit Donkey Sanctuary (01395 578222), offering good food, teas, coffees, and cakes in a spot where the kids can also learn more about these animals. One of the most popular local cafes is The Courtyard (01395 577553) in Sidmouth, with this botanically-inspired restaurant featuring a menu with locally sourced produce and a laid-back atmosphere.
